Mercato delle Bontà | Our Story
Italian soul food, fresh from family to yours
We're a family-run Italian café, bakery, and trattoria tucked into Bellingham's historic Granary Building — and everything we make, we make from scratch. This is the story of how we got here.
Italian roots, NYC energy, Bellingham home
Our food blends Italian roots with the bold, unfussy spirit of New York City — simple, made fresh, and always satisfying. Bellingham's waterfront felt like exactly the right place to land.
The family behind Mercato
Francesco and his wife opened Mercato delle Bontà on June 30, 2024, with a clear mission: serve the kind of Italian home cooking that makes people feel welcome the moment they walk in. It's a family business in the truest sense — you'll feel that warmth every visit.
Made fresh, in limited batches
Every day we bake focaccia from scratch, roll handmade pasta, and pull dishes from the oven in small batches. When it's gone, it's gone — and that's a promise we're proud to keep.
Two ways to gather
Stop into the café for coffee, a made-to-order focaccia sandwich, or something sweet to take home. Then come back for a sit-down dinner next door at the Trattoria.
A spot Bellingham keeps coming back to
Named one of Bellingham's best sandwich shops by Cascadia Daily, with nominations for Best Italian Restaurant, Coffee House, and Lunch Spot. We're grateful — and we'd love to see you soon.
